What is the National Disability Scheme (NDIS)?

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) provides funding to eligible people with disability to services in their community which can help provide an improved quality of life. This includes connections to allied healthcare services such as Exercise Physiology, Physiotherapy and Chiropractic services.

How can I use NDIS funding at 4D Health and Performance?

4D Health and Performance are the leading Allied Health Clinic based in Sydney CBD with a team of Physiotherapists, Exercise Physiologists, Chiropractors, and Massage Therapists all based in the same location. Patients also have access to an AlterG Anti-Gravity Treadmill.

Our friendly and professional team uses evidence-based and best practice methods to help you achieve your goals with tailored treatment programs.

Why see an Exercise Physiologist?

We provide exercise physiology support to NDIS participants and assist them to achieve their goals through movement. If you qualify for NDIS support services, please inform our staff when making a booking. Exercise physiology support is funded under ‘Improved Daily Living Skills’ and ‘Improved Health and Well-being’.

We work collaboratively with the participant to construct a plan with an aim to provide the necessary skills to reduce the impact of living with a disability, improve life quality and increase the ability to perform activities of daily living.

We accept and help NDIS participants as part of their treatment, including:

  • Self-managed treatment plans
  • Plan-managed treatment plans
  • NDIS-managed treatment plans

Exercise Physiology can help with a wide range of disabilities. These include but are not limited to:

  • Spinal Cord or Traumatic Brain Injuries
  • Cerebral Palsy
  • ASD/ADHD
  • Autism
  • Intellectual disabilities
  • Alzheimer’s disease
  • Neuromuscular/Neuromotor conditions

Using the AlterG Anti-Gravity Treadmill for NDIS

The clinical significance of the Alter G Anti-Gravity Treadmill is enabled by manipulating differential air pressure; creating a pressurised lifting force to decrease the impact of gravitational forces and body weight during locomotion. As a result, ground reaction forces are minimised and the associated muscles work at a safer, less strenuous level to attenuate forces. Alongside smaller ground reaction forces, the gravitational load can be reduced from 100% to as low as 20% of body weight, allowing us to target biomechanical insufficiencies and maintain cardiovascular fitness without overloading the patient specific site of injury. As such, the Alter G appeals to any individual whose lower extremity symptoms are related to full weight bearing during ambulation or exercise.

The Anti-Gravity Treadmill enables supported walking by reducing the impact of gravitational forces and body weight. Patients can benefit from programs that include the use of the Anti-Gravity Treadmill that is customised to meet their needs depending on the stage and presentation of their condition.
