AIM

The program is designed to provide individuals—living with Type II diabetes—with the skills and the knowledge needed to improve glucose management, increase fitness and function, maintain a healthy body weight, and improve your lifestyle risk factors.

WHAT TO EXPECT?

The classes are facilitated by one of our Exercise Physiologists who will work with you over the course of the 8 weeks. They will help improve your understanding of exercising safely, provide opportunity to connect with other individuals living with diabetes in a friendly and supportive environment all while learning how to better manage your diabetes!

  • 1:1 Initial Assessment with our Exercise Physiologist to establish baseline measurements of current health and physical capacity as well as setting out your goals for the program.
  • 1 Group exercise class per week for 8 weeks incorporating cardiovascular, strength and balance exercises tailored for each participant.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

Anyone with Type 2 Diabetes can participate in the class. To be eligible for Medicare rebate, you will need referral from your doctor. Your doctor can refer by completing the Diabetes Group Referral as part of their Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) Plan using the Diabetes Program Referral form. If you will be paying full price, you can book without a doctors referral. Please contact us to book your initial assessment. You may be eligible to claim these services from your private health fund if not eligible through Medicare.
